Small yard, big difference
A few small changes = usable space
You don’t have to have a large, elaborate project in mind. Maybe you are just looking for something that will make the back yard more user-friendly. Why have a yard if you are not going to use it?
There’s been a lot of talk in the magazines and home shows about outdoor rooms and outdoor living space. This doesn’t mean you have to plan a large space. Sometimes all it takes is a little careful planning and design.
The picture above shows a backyard project before the makeover. Harsh light,
worn-out, unfriendly space right up against the front end of the car. Doesn’t particularly look inviting and certainly doesn’t say “let’s have a party”.
But with a few simple changes in patio space, bedlines, fence and plant material and the yard is transformed into a really appealing outdoor space (after shot below). Expanding the patio space allows for a dining area with room for a grill, and a seating area to enjoy a chimnea. A new fence gives a bit more privacy and flowers in the plant beds adds a few pops of color. Sometimes it is the little things in life that mean the most.
