KARE11 Backyard Groundbreaking

On a gray day in May we had one last look at the KARE11 Backyard.  Definitely worse for the wear, the Backyard demolition finally starts on Tuesday, May 13th.  The Backyard had a great send-off on Monday with a KARE11 employee BBQ at noon and then a groundbreaking ceremony during the 5pm news (outside with Belinda, of course).  Most of the trade partners involved in the project were there, getting a behind-the-scenes look at Belinda’s weathercast.

Team leaders from KARE11, the Builders Association of the Twin Cities, and Southview Design have worked since February to get to this point.  A huge Thank You to all the partners on this project.  This is a tremendous, collaborative effort to provide KARE11 with a great outdoor living space.

Better Futures and All Metro Excavating will be taking the lead for the next few days to remove the concrete/wood flooring, fences, and existing backdrops.  Southview and designer, Tim Johnson, are scheduled to start on boulder walls and steps on May 30th – weather dependent, of course.  Keep your fingers crossed for good weather and we could get the New Backyard done in 8 weeks!  Stay tuned…..
