A Home for Marco Solt & Family

Wounded Veteran Project

The BATC Foundation, Homes For Our Troops, and Build Partner Accent Homes worked to provide a home for Marco Solt, an army veteran who lost both legs in an encounter with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.  During his recovery, Marco was approached by Homes for Our Troops whose mission is to build specially adapted homes for severely injured Veterans across the nation to enable them to rebuild their lives. Homes for Our Troops contacted the BATC Foundation for help with the project.  So many other suppliers and individuals generously donated labor and materials to make this project happen.

Landscape Designer Tim Johnson, Project Manager Mack Sutphin, and crew foreman Steve Scalzo made sure the landscape was low-maintenance for the Solt family.  Saturday, October 3rd, was landscape installation day.  We are proud to be part of this project.

Scores of volunteers with Home for Our Troops showed up on a cool October Saturday morning, ready to rake, shovel, dig, and do whatever needed to be done. Lunch was provided by Texas Roadhouse (which has some great reviews online…I may just have to try them out).  To see more pictures, go to Southview’s Facebook page.
