Small Space? No Problem!

Smart landscape design makes the most of small space

Watch a project installation in a small yard from day 1 to the end….
Do you have a small yard and think, “What can I do with it?!” Well, with great design you can usually have an outdoor living room that combines a perfect entertainment space, landscape focal points, and gardening opportunities.

This describes my upcoming Minneapolis project that will break ground this April.

My clients were looking for someone who could organize a new outdoor space with all of the elements they were dreaming about. Most importantly, they needed help in choosing quality materials to make the space a great extension of their new home.

We’ll be using bluestone like this to build the patio, walkway and retaining wall.

In the coming months, I will periodically write about how the installation is progressing…and I will have pictures! Here is what to look for:

  • Demolition of the old concrete patio/stoop; Replacing it with a new stoop covered in NY Bluestone
  • New Bluestone patio – a great space for entertainment
  • A Bluestone walkway leading to a new stone water feature and the main entrance
  • The new entertainment patio will be held in place by a Bluestone retaining wall which will complement the new stoop and walkway.
  • All of these features will be highlighted in the evening hours by a new low voltage lighting system, designed to extend their entertaining experience well after dark. Garden plantings selected for seasonal interest and privacy.
